Information Wanted about the Murder of Trooper Johnny Rush Bowman

On August 19, 1984 at 4:15 AM, Trooper Johnny Rush Bowman answered the front door at his residence located in the Bristoe Station development of Manassas, Virginia, and was repeatedly stabbed by an unknown assailant. The attacker fled on foot and Trooper Bowman died shortly thereafter at a local hospital. His murder remains an active investigation.

Recently, a new task force was created by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Criminal Intelligence Division, Manassas City Police Department, and the Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Thanks to advancements in modern forensic technology, Task Force members are analyzing evidence and actively pursuing new leads.

Law Enforcement is offering a reward up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the murder of Virginia State Trooper Johnny Rush Bowman.
