Primary Benefits
Death Benefit:
The Association provides a $5,000 death benefit ($10,000 accidental death) for each member every year. This benefit also covers a spouse for $2,500 and each dependent child for $1,000. Please contact the office if you need to change your beneficiary or if you need additional info.
Legal Representation:
VSPA has retained the services of a law firm to represent our members in administrative actions arising out of the performance of their duties. This is done free of charge for our members. This firm also offers discounted legal fees to our members for handling personal legal matters.

Emergency Relief Fund:
VSPA administers this fund to assist those in emergency medical, legal or family crisis situations. This has proven a valuable service to those who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn.
VSPA Web site:
VSPA has a web site www.vspa.org. Members can check on upcoming events and order merchandise online. If you have anything that you would like to add, please feel free to send it to the VSPA office or email to vspa@vspa.org.
Merchandise:
A wide variety of customized clothing, mugs, hats, lapel pins, watches and other gift items are available for your convenience at either of the two store locations.

Publications:
Each VSPA member receives a copy of the “Trooper” newsletter four times a year.
Retirement Badge or VSP Crystal:
Sworn members are entitled to receive a retirement badge and Non-Sworn members are entitled to a VSP Crystal. You must be retired from the department; however, if you retire early you must be collecting the VRS benefit.

Scholarships
Children of Members:
VSPA awards scholarships to children of active or retired members of VSPA in good standing. Scholarships can range between $500 and $1,000 per year and the recipients are not obligated to re-pay the scholarship.

Events
2011 Conference:
VSPA holds an annual conference over a weekend at a hotel in the state where our members can enjoy a wide variety of social activities, as well as attend numerous informa¬tional seminars. The 2012 Conference will be held in March in Staunton – March 23-25, 2012.
Family Picnic:
VSPA holds an annual picnic in August in the beautiful mountains in Blue Ridge VA. Members and their families can enjoy a wide variety of activities that are free. August 13, 2011.
Legislative
Political Action Committee:
With permission, your dues can be deposited directly into our PAC account. This allows us to accumulate a sizable war chest to be used during political campaigns to support candidates who are favorable to our legislative issues.
Lobbying:
Wayne Huggins, the Executive Director and Chief Lobbyist, works solely for the benefit of our Association and the law–enforcement community. Wayne keeps you informed by sending out all member e-mails to keep you up-to-date of the happenings at the Capitol. If you would like to be added to the VSPA e-mail list, please give us a call with your current e-mail address.

Make a Donation
Support the Emergency Relief Fund
Your donation is tax deductible and will go to assist the Association in providing emergency relief to members of the Virginia State Police and other law enforcement officers and their families.
Support the VSPA General Fund
The Virginia State Police Association general fund helps the Association operate. This fund provides Trooper Teddy Bears to Troopers to distribute to children at accident scenes, scholarships to members’ children, lobbying efforts which are directed towards creating a safer environment for our citizens, helps fund our war on drugs and alcohol in our schools, and more. Donations to the general fund are not tax deductible
